Not a review –  I’m just writing this post to say thanks to all the people who’ve read, followed, commented, et cetera so far. I’m quite impressed by the amount of daily traffic Faulty Reviews is getting, despite the fact that this blog is still quite rough around the edges.

Anyways, tonight I’ve started the visual novel Katawa Shōjo. I’m quite excited, since this will be my first time playing a visual novel. I’ve heard that KS is a real tear-jerker. I thought about testing my skills based on the background VN knowledge I’ve gained through such anime as Kaminomi (aka The World God Only Knows) and Oreimo, but I’ve decided to just play the game at my own pace, making decisions based on how I would personally act. Between jaunts of Katawa Shōjo, I plan on finishing my reviews of the first three episodes of Toaru Hikūshi e no Koiuta, which have been delayed so far. I’ll probably combine the reviews for the first two episodes into one post, whilst dedicating a separate post to the third episode, which was quite a heavy-hitter, emotionally speaking. With luck, they’ll be out tomorrow, though my review for the upcoming second episode of Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha will take priority.

To wrap this up, I’d like to reiterate my appreciation to all of my readers. Thank you for your time!

Winter 2014 Short Anime First Impressions

The new year brought with it a slew of “short” anime – series that have episode runtimes of around 4-8 minutes apiece. A lot of these shows tend to fly under the radar of most western anime fans. To give them a bit of the spotlight, I decided to watch the available episodes of all of this season’s short series, and present my thoughts on them. Without further adieu…

Buddy Complex – 01 & Random Thoughts on Sunrise

Valvrave Complex.

Watase Aoba (Matsuoka Yoshitsugu) is a normal high school boy leading a normal life in a normal city. Nearby this normal city, a tunnel through the time-space continuum deposits a mecha from the future, piloted by an extremely angry individual. This individual proceeds to fail at killing Watase, thanks to the fact that whomever designed his mecha decided that manual targeting systems are pointless, and Watase is saved by his classmate Yumihara Hina (Hayami Saori), who has her own mecha, since she too is from the future, having travelled to the past to protect Watase. However, Watase and Yumihara end up entering the aforementioned time tunnel due to circumstances, and Yumihara ends up fading away (why?). Watase ends up in the future, in a mecha (how?), thinking about some guy named Dio.

Disclaimer: Besides covering episode one of Buddy Complex, this review will also talk about both seasons of Valvrave. I can promise that nothing specific is spoiled, but I recommend discretion on the part of the reader.
